Snow in Saudi

On Tuesday, November 29, the sand dunes of Saudi Arabia turned white with unexpected snow. This occurred in the central and north-western parts of the country, which is normally hot and dry, being a desert habitat.

November is considered a ‘cold’ month in the desert kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but this year, temperatures fell to a chilly -3°C. As a result, the country experienced snowfall that covered its sand dunes with white snow.

Being desert country, temperatures in Saudi Arabia stay above 20°C. The unexpected snowfall caused many people to abandon their cars by the side of the road as the vehicles couldn’t move on the slippery snow. Many others celebrated by building snowmen and playing in the expected snow.
