No fuel, no airport to land in for Air India

The national airline of India—Air India—is in real trouble. The airline does not have money to pay for fuel and so the companies that sell fuel to the airline are only giving it a small amount of fuel each day.

Without fuel (or petrol) an airplane cannot fly. As a result, Air India had to cancel 20 flights on Friday. So, the airline will soon be combining some flights to deal with this problem.

The airline is facing other problems as well. Air India owes (has to give) a lot of money to GMR, the company that runs that the airports in Delhi and Hyderabad. GMR has also told Air India that unless it pays up this money, the airline will not be allowed to use these airports.
